Science and Spirituality Unite – The Miracle That is You

Is there really a place where science and spirituality unite? I believe they are intertwined and trying to understand either alone just leaves a lot of gaps and confusion.

We are living in a magnificent new age of compassion, forgiveness and spiritual awareness. The Human race is more connected than ever before in history. It is an exciting time to be alive and experience this shift in consciousness.

The technological advancement that allows us to carry a super computer, on our person, wherever we go is simply amazing. At any given moment, we have the ability to connect with anyone, anywhere on this planet. The wealth of knowledge and wisdom available to us with the touch of a button is staggering.

Yet, somehow, all of this advancement may have actually dumbed us down. Many of us live a life of disconnect. We spend less time in nature, under the stars, absorbing the energy of the heavens and the earth. We have become blinded to what is actually available to us.

If we spent more time looking within, we might better see how science and spirituality unite.

We spend endless hours in front of a television screen filling our heads with the fictional lives of others rather than living our own. We may not even be watching the program, but the TV has to be playing in the background anyway.

Choosing to sit quietly with our own thoughts for any length of time simply doesn’t happen anymore. In fact, it seems we go to great lengths to keep our minds otherwise occupied at all times.

I have often wondered how the great scientists of our past knew so much without the technology we have access to today. I believe it is because they were much more in tune to the Universe and themselves. They valued and instinctively listened to their inner voice, their inner wisdom.

Albert Einstein, possibly the most famous scientist to date, won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921. Some quotes by this extraordinary individual show that his knowledge and wisdom extended well beyond the confines of science:

“Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”      Albert Einstein
“A human being is part of the whole called by the universe.”  Albert Einstein
“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”      Albert Einstein

At the other end of the spectrum, we have great spiritual teachers embracing science.

His Holiness, The Dalai Lama spoke at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in late 2005. You can read Science at the Crossroadsan article based on his talk to learn more.

His Holiness, The Dalai Lama has also written a book on the subject of how science and spirituality unite. The book is The Universe in a Single Atom: The Convergence of Science and Spirituality.

I haven’t actually read this book yet, as I just discovered it myself while doing the research for this post. It has great reviews on Amazon and is currently in my cart. I am really looking forward to this read.

I found many quotes by The Dalai Lama relating to the unity of science and spirituality. I absolutely love the quote below:

“With the ever growing impact of science on our lives, religion and spirituality have a greater role to play reminding us of our humanity. There is no contradiction between the two. Each gives valuable insights into the other. Both science and the teachings of the Buddha tell us of the fundamental unity of all things.”            His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama

It may seem, right now, that science is “catching up” to what the spiritual community has “known” all along, that science and spirituality unite in truly miraculous ways.

Of course, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. Most mainstream scientists will continue to reject anything they cannot understand by using their five human senses and many spiritualists will continue to ignore the science that could disprove their old beliefs.

I have to admit that I am a science and mathematics geek, so this blending of science and spirituality has become a bit of an obsession for me. Many scholars of the scientific field are now embracing the spiritual realm and I find the result of this to be super impressive.

So, you want to learn more about how science and spirituality unite, right?

I am thrilled to share with you some of the theories out there and the scientific minds behind them. There are so many new discoveries coming into play. We have a wealth of knowledge and wisdom available to us. See if any of these resonate with you.

Nassim Haramein is an amateur physicist and founder of the Hawaii Institute for Unified Physics. He is also the director of research for Resonance Science Foundation. He and physicist Elizabeth Rauscher collaborated to develop a Unified Field Theory that they have named the Haramein Rauscher Metric.

Dr. Bruce Lipton, PhD is an American stem cell biologist who believes that our mind/body connection is stronger than our genes and DNA.  He teaches that our thoughts and beliefs can override our genes and lead us to greater health and well-being. He is also the author of several books including The Biology of Belief, Spontaneous Evolution and The Honeymoon Effect.

Greg Braden is a New York Times best-selling author, former computer geologist and pioneer in bridging science, spirituality and the real world. He has spent more than 25 years searching high mountain villages, remote monasteries and forgotten texts to uncover their timeless secrets.

Some of his books include The Divine Matrix, The God Code, The Spontaneous Healing of Belief and his newest offering, Human by DesignGreg is also a 2015-2020 Templeton Prize nominee.

If you enjoyed any of these clips, I encourage you to explore further and grow. There is so much to learn about what we are, why we are here and how we can connect on a much deeper level.

Thank you for reading and if you loved the post, please share!

The other reason for my celebrity obsession

Have you ever suddenly been attracted to someone famous and you just couldn’t figure out why? Maybe you’re not into all this celebrity hype, but then, one day you just feel like you want to know more about that movie actor, musician, author, artist or athlete?

You aren’t alone and it is easier than ever to find news and information on just about anyone. Knowing you can trust that information to be true and accurate is another issue entirely.

I was recently “star struck” by a very well-known movie actor. Not since I was a pre-teen, with posters on my bedroom walls, have I had a real celebrity crush.  Sure, we all have favorite celebrities and I do too, but there wasn’t anyone I felt compelled to find out more about.

My recent crush is Keanu Reeves. It didn’t turn out to be a crush so much, although it definitely felt that way for a while. I was eventually able to view my being drawn to him as my stepping off point to spiritual growth and becoming more self-aware.

The Universe was giving me a mirror to look into. And no, I certainly do not consider myself a female, non-famous version of this man, but we do share some attributes and he definitely exemplifies other characteristics I wish to expand in myself.

And, seriously, this guy is an amazing human being. I must have been living under a rock. Even though The Matrix may be my favorite movie ever, I didn’t know anything about the star beyond his roles in film.

Keanu Reeves has experienced some very deep trauma and pain in his life. Some of what he has endured reflects my own life experience. He has managed to come through the other side of his personal tragedy a better person. I am extremely happy to say that I have too.

There are people who become bitter when exposed to hardship and there are people who decide to numb their pain however they can. I believe exceptional people learn and grow through all life experiences to become more compassionate and empathetic souls.

Keanu Reeves is an exceptional person. He is also known for being kind, thoughtful and incredibly generous. He is an introvert and a loner, two things I can definitely relate to. And although I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent, I have a feeling, Reeves’ intellect would blow me away.

Did you know that Reeves is not only an actor but also a published writer. His first book, Ode to Happiness was published in 2011. His second book, Shadows became available in 2016. Both books are a collaboration between Reeves, who wrote the text, and artist Alexandra Grant.

I own and love Shadows, an artsy collectible, with short poems by Reeves paired with photos taken by Grant. Reeves also happens to be the subject of the photography. Definitely a bonus! I missed out on Ode to Happiness, but would graciously accept a gift copy if anyone has one to give up.

Keanu Reeves seems to have a knack for turning his passions into his livelihood. One of his passions is motorcycles and in 2012, he founded Arch Motorcycles with friend Gard Hollinger. In 2017 Reeves, along with Alexandra Grant, Jessica Fleischmann and Florence Grant founded  X Artists Books, a small art book publishing company.

I latched onto him just as I was about to embark on my latest spiritual awakening. Learning about him helped me to achieve a deeper learning of myself and my worth. I was also turned on to other individuals, through him, that helped me continue on my journey.

I have always believed that God, or the Universe if you wish, provides whatever or whomever you need to gently push, or violently shove you down your true path. You know the saying, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” This could not be more true.

This is also not the first time I have manifested the appropriate “teachers” into my life. It just happens to be the first time one of them has been a famous actor.

Now that I feel more spiritually aware myself, I can’t help but notice similar awareness in others, literally everywhere. It is like a light has been turned on. I can see the connection in movies, hear it in songs, read it in books.

Celebs, in particular seem to exude spiritual knowledge and abundance. This makes perfect sense to me. Creativity and spirituality have a very obvious connection the way I see it. If you follow what lights you up, the creativity will flow.

Our  favorite celebrities became famous by chasing their joy, living their passion. They have walked through the fear involved with being in the spotlight for doing what they love. We can choose to see them as a shining example of what is possible for each and every one of us.

Thank you Keanu Reeves.
